About Me

Hi there, and thank you for visiting my website. Here’s what you missed on glee…

I’m Ryan! I’m an actor, singer, pianist, music director, improviser, and teacher (but I like to use the term “artist” for short) that currently resides in New York City. Whether I’m on stage, or behind the piano, my mission is to create. To create stories to take us to places we’ve never gone, to create characters that people see themselves in, and to broadcast messages that have an impact. I like to lean into the limitlessness of creation so much that some people have called me “unhinged” and an “agent of chaos,” but truth be told, I like a good laugh as much as the next person, and as an educator, I believe in process over product.

I’ve had a wonderful time leaving my mark on NYC so far. Since receiving my BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, (studying at the Experimental Theater Wing, then the New Studio on Broadway respectively). I’ve learned that you can do whatever you want as an artist, as long as you do it with love. Some of these highlights include swinging the world premier of “The Parts I Keep Inside” at the Triad Theater; which I was recently nominated for a Broadway World award for “Best Performance in an Off-Broadway Musical”, as well as rotating as a pianist, host, and featured cast member in the musical improv comedy show “Eight is Never Enough” at the Broadway Comedy Club.

After learning from the best in the biz, I found my own way into artistic education.

I have been freelancing for the past six years as a private piano and voice instructor, where I take an individualized somatic approach to create a scientific and artistic understanding of each instrument in the interest of fostering a loving, and productive relationship with my students' craft. Are you interested in working with me? If so, click here to visit my contact page to get in touch. I would absolutely love to hear from you!

In addition to private instruction and music directing, I was the Theater Teacher at the Success Academy High School of Liberal Arts in Manhattan, where I had the pleasure of instructing almost 150 students with a self-composed curriculum. I also directed and music directed the school's first post-COVID musical, "Once On This Island." Soon after, I found my footing back where it all began working as a pianist for the New Studio on Broadway at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

And today, I am an Adjunct Faculty member at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where I am a voice teacher at The Experimental Theatre Wing.

And sometimes...I'm even a TELEPROMPTER!

I am a proud, card-carrying member of the Actor's Equity Association, and am always ready to put it to work! If you identify Please feel free to peruse samples of my work, and head on over to the Contact page to keep the conversation going!

Thanks again for visiting my kooky little corner of the web :)
